Room Pressurization

What Is Room Pressurization?

Room pressurization is the methodical adjustment of supply / exhaust airflow in a given room to either make the room positively pressurized or negatively pressurized.

A room may be positively pressurized to adjacent areas and rooms for many reasons. It may be done to protect health care patients in operating rooms, protect sterile medical and surgical supplies in supply rooms, along with many other reasons.

Many rooms, such as airborne infection isolation rooms, are negatively pressurized to adjacent areas and rooms to prevent airborne contaminants from spreading to areas where they are unwelcome.
